I’m Jeff Slakey from tracing the fjord and we’ve got your plans covered for the week!

First, I want congratulate all the nominees and winners from the north mason gala at the Alderbrook Resort and Spa this past Saturday. Executive Director Pam Volz and Board President Darren Corliss put on a great event and it was wonderful to see everyone there and folks were looking good! Darren’s chairman’s choice award went to Greg Oldham, Citizen of the year was Dr. Don LePere, Business of the year was Peninsula Credit Union, Non-Profit of the year was Belfair Youth Connections, and Chamber member of the year is Leanne Sanchez,

Before we go through the week, a reminder that the new magazine is out and it’s packed with content including a Q&A with the 35th district candidates and a look at all the islands around the Fjord.

Tuesdays in general has pickleball at the Community Transit Center downtown Shelton from nine to eleven, it’s 3 bucks and put on by Shelton Parks and Recreation. Those players down there are no joke! Tuesday at the Shelton civic center, the Mason County League of Women Voters are hosting a candidate forum at noon.

Wednesday a traditional candidates forum is happening at 5:30 at the New Community Church of Union

Music on Thursdays, live at the Hook and Fork in Union, Dave Ashby plays from 3-5, and then check out open mic at Bent Bine from six to nine. There’s a nine ball tournament from 6:30-9:30 at the El Sarape Cantina in Shelton.

Fridays, the Shelton Family YMCA has free teen nights from 5-8, a great way to explore the Y plus connect with friends and burn off some energy.

There is plenty to choose from on Saturday
12-4:30 at Kneeland Park in Shelton, Community Lifeline is having a fall fun fest fundraiser.
The unleashing of Viking Kitty Ale at Bent Bine is 1-5 in Belfair.
It’s the 33rd annual Nisqually Watershed Festival at the Billy Frank JR Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge. There's a Prince tribute band called Purple Experience at the Little Creek Casino.

Sunday the Mason County Concert Association is back with great concerts, and kicking it off is The Everly Set.

And for something completely different, try the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party and Escape Room at 413 W Railroad in Shelton.

Finally, remember that Oysterfunk and Oysterfest is coming up quick, please consider either reaching out to skookum rotary or your favorite non-profit in the area and volunteer for a shift or two. It’s a fun environment and you’ll have a memorable experience.

Other big events on the horizon in October, Arts Walk in Olympia, Turning Pointe’s Power of the Purse, 24 hours of Lemons Race at The Ridge and then just all the great things that get us ready for fall.
