A vibrant chapter for KMAS radio.

In the summer 2023 Fjord Jeff Slakey shared the news that KMAS would be continuing on its long broadcasting history in Mason County.

“KMAS will return to full service radio with news, community updates and a mix of some of the best music ever made. Mariners and Seahawks will stay, and we may get some local sports on as well. I will be back on the air in the mornings with news and interviews and music.”

In 2022 Jeff had left KMAS (after 16 years) to join the Fjord magazine team. A year later, upon hearing the 40-year-old radio station was about to be dismantled and permanently go off the air, he and John and Rachel Hansen put in an offer to acquire the station and let the voice of Mason County be heard loud and clear.

Now in 2024, we are pleased to announce we have accomplished much of the groundwork to re-establish KMAS’s place in the media community. The station is gradually regaining trust within the community. As we continue to lay the foundations to making KMAS community staple once more, we value your guidamce on this journey.
