'Round the Fjord - 9/26-10/3

Hello and welcome to the last week of September

It was the official start to Fall last week and things are starting to change but we’ve been blessed with some cool night and warm afternoons.

I am here at Hamersley Inlet Rachel and her family are out gathering oysters for the raw bar and the BBQ during OysterFest. All monies will go back to the Marine Touch Tanks

Come start it off Friday night with the Shelton Rotary’s OysterFunk from 6-10 with The Varmints playing music, there will be drinks and food and fun Friday night on the OysterFest grounds.

Then Saturday and Sunday make your way through all the food booths run by non-profits while you listen to great music, see old friends and watch the West Coast Oyster Shucking Championships and more. Make sure you get some great OysterFest swag and be there Saturday at 11:30 for celebrity chef Xihn Dwelley as she shows us how to clean geoduck followed by some of her amazing geoduck chowder.

It's all this weekend at the Port of Shelton, learn more at oysterfest.org.

Wednsday at the Hub Center in Belfair they’ve got a great lunch program with Charles Birdsell and John Hansen talking about the USS Turner Joy. It’s a Vietnam-era Destroyer up in Bremerton,

Thursday at the hub there is the Belfair Christmas Parade planning meeting at 5:30.
